In Spelendor, players take on the role of renaissance merchants trying to buy up gem mines, the mines' associated transportation, and, of course, jewelry stores. The game is played for prestige points, which can be obtained by mining, building, or even by visiting a noble. The game is won by the first player to collect fifteen prestige points. The rules of the game are simple and quick to learn, yet the game itself is exciting enough even for more serious board game fans. No wonder it received the prestigious Spiel des Jahres nomination in 2014. The number of players is 2-4 people, the playing time is about 30-60 minutes.
