Standby UPS can be seen primarily as a complement to personal computers. UPS uses the filtered variable current input as a primary power source and switches to the spare source battery/interver when the primary source is released. When this is done, the switch must be redirected to the spare power source provided by the battery/interver. The inverter only starts when the power supply is discharged, and this is where the name of the standby comes. The general feature of such systems is high efficiency, small size and favorable price. With the right filter and overvoltage discharge circuit, such units also provide a satisfactory level of disorder screening and overvoltage protection.
