A story about a world that is both magical and terrifying. Dream worlds are built, miracles that seemed unimaginable until then, sensations that then go down the drain and collapse.
The location is New York. We are in the first decades of the 1900s. Coralie Sardie was born with a strange deformity: webbing between her fingers. His father raised him to make the most of the membrane; he created a mermaid out of her. A creature that entertains thousands in the aquarium of the Museum of Beautiful Secrets in its glittering clothes by day, and is forced to do secret deeds at night. With Coralie's athletic build, she could easily defeat the New York Sports Club champion, Halman, if she wanted to. Coralie herself is the Creature of the Hudson, the terror of the Hudson River, who falls in love with a young man during a night outing – not with a monster, but rather with simple human feelings. This young man is a certain Eddie Cohen, who, leaving behind his past, family and religion, begins to play underworld games, captures villains, and can no longer escape from this bond when a distraught father approaches him with the case of his daughter who disappeared in the Triangle factory fire. Little does Eddie know that love may also find him in the process of completing this stressful task...
