In Cascadia, players compete to create the most diverse environment in the North American flora by selecting habitat tiles and wildlife tokens to build a beautiful mosaic landscape.

Each Cascadia game features a unique combination of score cards for five animal species. As players try to arrange their animals into scoring formations, they also compete for the largest contiguous habitats. As they shape their environment, they must also pay attention to the created habitats and the fauna that inhabits them, in order to create the most harmonious ecosystem.

You start the game with a special base of 3 hex habitat tiles, then in one round you choose a new habitat tile paired with a wildlife token. Expand your habitat with this tile and place the game token according to its appropriate habitat. Each habitat tile represents 1-3 types of wildlife (there are five habitats in the game, and a maximum of one wildlife token can be placed on each tile). You can choose any one of the 4 tiles, which habitat and wildlife marker best fits your ecosystem. If you have nature tokens to spend, you can more freely choose habitat and wildlife tokens.

Ideally, you can create a terrain that is continuous with the habitat tiles, so that at the end of the game you can have the largest of the given area, so you can get bonus points. At the same time, you also have to pay attention to the placement of your wild tokens, because one of the 3 scoring cards belonging to each type of wild designates the wild token pattern that can be completed in the current game, also for bonus points. Perhaps hawks want to be separate from other hawks, while foxes want to be surrounded by other animals, and bears want to be in pairs.
