YSHIELD GK5 is a primer concentrate designed for use under electromagnetic shielding paints. It prepares firm old paint layers as well as chalky, limey and absorbent substrates before the shielding coat is applied. The primer consolidates the surface, improves adhesion and penetrates well, while regulating how much the substrate absorbs. It is also recommended as a base for HSFxx graphite shielding paints when difficult mineral coatings need treating.

One litre of concentrate is mixed with four litres of water to make five litres of ready-to-use primer. If tap water is used, the mixture should be applied within 48 hours. A high-quality paint roller is recommended for application. Do not work at temperatures below 5 °C. According to the manufacturer, the mixture covers approximately 37.5 m² indoors and 25 m² outdoors.
