William Golding - Látható sötétség

This work of Golding's is also a mysterious, multifaceted work in its subject matter. We can see it as a crime novel, but also as a vision of our time, and what's more, a small encyclopedia. Its characters, locations, and plot twists are perceptibly contemporary and perceptibly universal - that's why they are so familiar. Matty, the little boy thrown out of the fire of the London bombing, who finds love and pity in a teacher who is considered a pervert in the eyes of the world, and in adulthood he expects answers to the questions that bother him first from his Bible, then from ghosts; Sophy and Toni, twins with beautiful looks but possessed by sinister powers; the old bookseller and his friend who drifts with all kinds of religious-philosophical fads - they "enact" this strange story. Their lives meet fatefully at the focal point of a terrorist's misdeed - since the fires in the novel have been burning since time immemorial and spreading the "visible darkness".
