Victor Klemperer - A third Empire nyelve - Egy filológus feljegyzései
Product description
"Victor Klemperer, as a professor of linguistics of Jewish origin, survived the twelve years of the Third Reich solely thanks to his Aryan wife and the bombing of Dresden. Exiled from the Dresden college to various war supply factories, as a trained assistant he could observe at close range how the consciousness of an entire people was infected by the most secret and his most formidable weapon, the total language, which he abbreviated as lti, i.e. the language of the Third Empire (Lingua Tertii Imperii). He continuously wrote down his observations in his diary, then organized them into chapters after the end of the war, and published them under the title lti in 1947. His book made his name known worldwide. In the lti, Klemperer, by seizing a few dozen key symbols of the language of Hitler's propaganda and public life, and placing them in a historical, cultural-historical and linguistic context, actually catalogs the linguistic schemes of all total and totalitarian systems. However, the book is by no means dry lexicology or semantics (for example, knowledge of the German language is not necessary to understand), rather a special diary: from the beginning to the very end, the author lived in this life-threatening society for him, and with an impressive civil education to preserve his sanity, he continuously observed and recorded with resigned irony the linguistic fluctuations of everyday Nazism , from contemporary jokes through newspaper articles to Nazi literature. lti was first published in Hungarian in 1984 in the Membran book series of the Mass Communication Research Center. The text of this book is a corrected, revised, annotated version of this edition. 3rd edition"
