Three times (1901, 1902 and 1903), the Kisfaludy Society commissioned the collection of Székely folk songs and folk traditions, so that we could save what can still be saved from the yet-to-be-lost, naive expressions of the Székely folk spirit. the folk song, folk tale rooted in the unadulterated folk soul perishes. The new ideas, new directions, and new aspirations that follow culture transform the people, and the individuality of the folk spirit rapidly melts in the melting pot of civilization. I started the collection with little hope of success, but with even greater enthusiasm, because I felt that the folk poetry of Székely was once in its flourishing field, in which a few enthusiastic collectors have collected the most beautiful products of the world's folk poetry, I will perhaps be one of the last (heaven forbid it be so!) who can find a new one.
