Változó time variable emlékezet

On the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the revolution and freedom struggle of 1956, the Institute and Archive for Researching the History of Regime Change (RETÖRKI) has set itself the goal of expanding its online chronology dealing with regime change, launched in 2020, to present the changing evaluation and interpretation of 1956. We did not only want to present politically motivated interpretations, but we also tried to address how the changing reception appeared in public discourse, in intellectual-scientific debates, as well as in the community memory embodied in public monuments. We wanted to present the results of this expansion of our online chronology to the public in this volume as well. As in our last year's publication, we tried to compile our timeline-based writings in an attractive and comprehensible form, with numerous related biographies and contemporary documents and illustrations. We hope that we were able to contribute to a better understanding of the 1956 revolution and freedom struggle and its interpretation and to make it widely known.
