Product description
We meet tomorrow is set in Stavanger, the author's hometown and its surroundings. The story is told by eleven narrators who come from radically different worlds of the same city - young people in high school, the lonely and desperate father of two students, or two small-time criminals trying to adapt to the changing times. They are all trying to fill the gaping void in their lives with something. Pal, a divorcee with two children, harbors a shameful secret that has forced him into massive debt - more than he could ever pay off with his modest civil servant salary. He would do anything to keep this a secret - especially from his teenage daughters and ex-wife. Sixteen-year-old Sandra also keeps a secret: she is in love with the irresistible criminal Daniel William. His love - he feels - is so strong and pure that nothing can stand in his way. But Cecilie carries the most serious secret of them all, a child developing inside her. She can only hope that Rudi, her boyfriend, is the father of the child she loves, but at the same time she feels that their low-level criminal lifestyle has trapped her. He dreams of leaving all of this behind him one day. On three fateful days in September, these lives intersect to emerge from the vortex of brutality and laughter, tragedy and love, changed once and for all.
Tomorrow we meet is a representative of the best Nordic literature, a neo-noir drama with black humor. It is a novel of a world in which friendship, sin, loneliness and tragic death are hidden behind cool sobriety and distant good manners. Critics of the novel across Norway and Great Britain compared the author to Balzac and George R.R. He has been compared to Martin, as well as to the authors of modern HBO series.
