Thomas Pierce - Holtvágány

Love and death. Not necessarily in that order.

Jim Byrd is dead. A little. For a few minutes. Cardiac arrest at age thirty-three... but he made it back. And what worries him the most is that he didn't see any tunnels of light, angels or anything like that. He becomes obsessed with the question: what awaits us after death?

Then you hear about 100% authentic ghost stories. And another heart problem hits him: he meets his childhood sweetheart, Annie. They soon become friends, and in the company of Jim's father, the three of them now continue the scientific investigation in pursuit of one of the most esoteric secrets. Holograms, otherworldly messages and a machine that can connect the living and the dead. They try everything that can reveal their future beyond the grave.

But what they find out is not at all what they would have been interested in.

The award-winning American author, whom the New York Times wrote: "insanely good", has so far dazzled his readers with his short stories. His debut novel, if possible, sets the bar even higher, and due to its provocative choice of topics, it is simply a must-read. But beware, it will haunt you for a long time after its completion!
