Product description
Simon Péter is a boy's novel. His mission, his journey, his ordeal. It belongs to a thirty-three-year-old man who, at the turning point of his life, takes stock of all his thoughts, words, actions and omissions.
Deacon Simon. He lost his wife, his parents separated a long time ago. One day, his father, whom he has not seen for years, appears sick and frail, and "confesses" to Simon that at the time he had another son from a secret relationship outside of marriage.
Starting from this basic situation in the last short story of the volume Váltóáram, Mátyás Szöllősi sends his hero on such a long journey that it is impossible to cover it in a single day of the novel's time. Even a murderer's experience is not enough for that. Because we don't know, we don't understand, we often don't respect and love each other - sometimes not even ourselves. However, if we want to change this, if we want to change the world, we must first change ourselves.
Péter Simon is an open work, allowing the reader a lot of freedom. A unique, powerful voice in the polyphony of contemporary Hungarian literature.
