Zsigmond Szendrey (Szatmárnémeti, 1879 – Balatonfenyves, May 26, 1943) is an ethnography teacher. Nagyszalontán got involved in ethnographic research and led the local collection of Folklore Fellows for six years. He primarily conducted basic research in the field of Hungarian folklore and folk customs, as well as folktales. For example, he has published summary studies on several sub-themes in specialized journals. Among the studies in our volume, we find one that was published in the volume The Spiritual Ethnography of Magyarság, but most of them were published in the pages of the journal Ethnographia. The studies present the world of Hungarian folklore and customs. The writings can be found in the volume in the following order: • Significant days • Ancient elements of Hungarian folk customs • The tools of magic • The time and place of sorcerer's actions • The customs and beliefs of the people of Szatmár County • A collection of our folk traditions
