The Synology RackStation RS3626xs is an enterprise-class NAS in a 2U rack format, offering twelve drive bays that can be expanded to 36 with two RX1225RP expansion units. Its built-in six-core Intel Xeon D-1726 runs at 2.9 to 3.5 GHz and is paired with 8 GB of DDR4 ECC memory, upgradable to 48 GB.
According to the specifications, the unit delivers over 115,000 IOPS for random 4K writes, with sequential read and write speeds of up to 6,300 and 3,700 MB/s. Two built-in 10GbE RJ45 ports provide network connectivity, which can be extended with 10/25GbE NIC or Fibre Channel adapters. Two PCIe Gen4 x8 slots and two Mini-SAS HD ports offer further expansion options.
High availability is supported by hot-swappable drives, online volume expansion, redundant power supplies and Synology High Availability clustering. The system supports RAID F1, RAID 0/1/5/6/10 and JBOD configurations, along with SSD cache and automatic storage tiering to optimise inactive data.
