Natural images without false colors

Chromatic aberration can also degrade resolution and bokeh quality. The ED (Extra Low Dispersion) lens element contributes significantly to the excellent optical performance of the lens by controlling axial chromatic aberration and maximizing the clarity, natural effect and color of the breathtaking bokeh.

Dual-position sensors - accurate autofocus

In addition to the usual rotation sensor, a second sensor is used to detect the position of the focusing lens group. The dual sensor system provides an extremely high level of focusing precision to make the most of the high-resolution capabilities of advanced camera bodies. The required power and speed is ensured by the SSM (supersonic motor) drive.

11 blades for vibrant bokeh

Until now, Sony's circular aperture design had a maximum of 9 blades. It's the first α lens to feature 11 blades in a circular aperture design that takes bokeh to new levels of soft, natural-looking beauty.

A quick response to rapidly changing shooting situations can play a decisive role in capturing the moment. The location of the manual/auto focus toggle switch and focus lock button provides easy access, allowing versatile, professional control for a variety of subjects and environments.

It can be easily turned off for recording click videos

While stills photographers generally prefer the physical feedback provided by click positions on the aperture ring, filmmakers prefer a smooth, quiet, click-free shutter operation. The control device on the aperture ring of the lens, accompanied by a clicking sound, can be easily turned on and off, so it is suitable for recording both photos and videos.

Sun visor lock and release

A lens hood locking mechanism prevents the lens hood from accidentally detaching when changing shooting locations, while a lens hood release button makes it easy to remove and reattach the lens hood as needed.
