SONY FE 24mm F1.4 GM
Product description
Amazing F1.4 resolution in a mobile prime lens
Thanks to the cutting-edge technology, G Master's performance is refined, the resolution is high, and the bokehs are natural and soft, even at F1.4 aperture. The lens is compact and the lightest in its category, making it highly portable. It also achieves fast, precise AF drive as well as top-level controllability and reliability.
Amazing F1.4 resolution in a mobile prime lens
Thanks to cutting-edge technology, G Master's performance is refined, resolution is consistently high, and bokehs are soft and natural even at the largest aperture of F1.4. The lens is compact and the lightest in its class, maximizing the benefits of E-mount portability. It also provides fast, precise AF drive, as well as top-level control and reliability, making it an excellent choice for professional photographers.
Excellent resolution in the entire area of the image
The two XA (extreme aspherical) elements – one on the first element – effectively correct coma, field curvature and astigmatism that can cause problems in wide-angle, wide-aperture optics, providing excellent corner-to-corner resolution even at large F1.4- and when using a shutter.
ED lens elements eliminate chromatic aberration
Three ED (Extra Low Dispersion) glass elements carefully integrated into the optical path of the lens minimize radial, lateral and chromatic aberrations, ensuring optimal sharpness throughout the image.
The high-tech optical design faithfully reproduces point-like light sources
A state-of-the-art optical design incorporating two precision XA elements eliminates sagittal flare, a common problem with large-aperture lenses. Sagittal flare is the phenomenon where the image of point light sources is unnaturally smeared, much like a bird with outstretched wings, which occurs mainly at the edges of the image. The natural reproduction of point light sources is especially important when photographing scenes with, for example, stars or city lights. (1. The star photographed with the FE 24mm F1.4 GM shows no signs of sagittal flare. 2. Sagittal flare is clearly visible on a star photographed with a conventional 24mm f1.4 lens.)
The nanocrystal coating improves glare resistance
Sony's original Nano Crystal Coating technology provides an effective solution by eliminating internal reflections that cause flare and ghosting, resulting in optimal contrast and clarity in the widest possible range of shooting conditions. (1. Anti-reflective nanocrystal coating / 2. Lens / 3. Transmitted light)
Compact and lightweight design
The new optical design with two XA elements (one of which is located on the front lens) reduces the overall diameter of the lens. Thus, in combination with the newly developed DDSSM (Direct Drive SSM) focus drive system, a remarkably low weight of only 445 grams is achieved. Due to the reduced size and weight of the lens, it fits perfectly with compact E-mount frames.
The 11 blades enhance the beauty of the bokeh
The aperture of the lens contains 11 lamellae, which is typical for α lenses. The circular design creates an almost perfectly circular aperture, even when the lens is set 1 or 2 stops lower, making beautiful, round bokeh easy. This also contributes to the soft, smooth background bokeh that makes the subject stand out perfectly.
The high-performance DDSSM has been redesigned and optimized for the lens
The redesigned high-performance DDSSM (Direct Drive SSM) focus drive system reduces size and weight, while being approximately three times more powerful than the previous system. The increased power of the new DDSSM system enables faster, more precise and quieter autofocus drive, which means exceptional performance when shooting photos and movies.
It can be easily turned off for recording click videos
The aperture ring provides the speed and responsiveness professionals need for stills and video. With the ON/OFF switch, the stops of the aperture ring can be turned on or off as needed. With the stops on, the photographer's finger receives feedback, making it easier to adjust the ring when shooting stills. When the stops are off, the aperture ring moves smoothly and quietly, so it can be adjusted smoothly and silently during movie shooting.
Even, flexible treatment
The focus lock button can be customized from the camera body menu. The user can directly access the secondary function assigned to the focus lock button, which can be, for example, "Grid lines", which can be used to check the composition in landscape photography, or "White balance", which can be used to adjust the white balance to the current lighting conditions or to create a special mood.
High level of reliability even in harsh conditions
The rubber material of the focus ring is still at low temperatures
