SCHLEICH 14841 Wild Life Pingvin
Product description
The common characteristic of Schleich figures is meticulous, detailed workmanship and hand painting.
Penguins are birds with a peculiar body shape. The largest penguin is 115 centimeters tall, the smallest is only 40 centimeters tall. Because their sickle-shaped, pointed wings are used in a similar way to flying - although instead of air, they are used for moving and swimming in water. Their wings resemble the fins of fish or dolphins more than the wings of other birds. Since they cannot sit, they rest by standing and leaning on their tails - which is why their tail feathers are stiff, like the tail feathers of the woodpecker, which perform a similar function. Their beaks are straight, laterally compressed. Their spindle-shaped bodies are heavy on dry land, but extremely streamlined underwater. Their short, flat feathers, which grow on the entire surface of their bodies, also serve to reduce the resistance to the medium. This plumage insulates heat poorly, which is why penguins have a thick layer of fat under their skin. Their bellies are white, their backs are black.
