Salman Rushdie - Quichotte

Inspired by Cervantes' classic novel, Sam DuChamp, a mediocre spy novelist, creates Quichotte, a noble-minded former pharmaceutical agent who lives his life mostly in the world of TV shows. His Dulcinea becomes a delightful TV star, and in order to become worthy of her love, Quixote - together with his imaginary son, Sancho - embarks on a picaresque knight's journey in a world where new dangers lurk, never seen before, where everything seems possible and where he himself is material and time seem to begin to dissipate.
Quichotte is both a wildly entertaining and bitterly thought-provoking journey through America depicted with surreal realism and the consciousness of today's man who is terrified of destruction - and, moreover, it is a beautiful love novel, whose narrator faces his own imminent death and seeks escape just like humanity: with the madman with the hope that he might live longer on a parallel earth. You just have to get there somehow.

Quichotte is Salman Rushdie's fourteenth novel - and we will undoubtedly rank it among his masterpieces in his oeuvre.
