Translation by Boglárka Cziglényi
The book was a resounding success and a huge critical response in Europe and the United States. And it is truly exceptional that it speaks at the same time about a childhood lived in the shadow of threats and in the Theresienstadt camp, about what it meant to be a woman during the Holocaust, and what it means to be a survivor. With whom, when, how and at what price can this trauma be shared? The deeply moving and captivatingly intelligent work is deservedly placed by the European reception alongside the books of Primo Levi and Elie Wiesel.
