The light is slowly fading. Between the dank walls of the dungeon, only the clatter of the dice breaks the silence, while another danger awaits around every turn. This is Grotten, a minimalist yet ruthless dungeon crawler role-playing game where every throw leads you deeper into darkness.

The strength of Grotten lies in its simplicity: it requires almost no preparation, it can be played immediately, and it always offers a different experience. Dungeons are built from tiles, while random boards reveal monsters, traps, loot and enemies to players. No two journeys are the same here – the adventure always twists along new paths, pushing the characters deeper and deeper into the heart of darkness.

The system was inspired by the rules of the award-winning Mörk Borg, so it is clean, brutalist and ruthless at the same time. The classic seven-piece dice set is sufficient, and the twenty-sided die (d20) is the central element. Characters start with four attributes and progress by defeating archenemies.

The game offers complete freedom: it can be played in a team, with or without a game master, or even in solo mode - in which case you build and explore the dark labyrinth for yourself, where every round brings new trials.

The gameplay is fast and tight, it works anywhere: in a pub, on a train journey, or even at home, by candlelight. Grotten is ruthless and unforgiving of mistakes. In the depths of the dungeon, not only the monsters, but also darkness itself is an enemy.
