Róheim Géza - A turul monda and a kazár nagyfejedelem

The exclusive connection of the turul legend with the Árpád dynasty leaves no doubt that the legend has a very ancient type of totemistic, conceptual legend. However, the "totemistic" adjective does not even fully exhaust everything that can be said about the question from an ethnopsychological point of view. The role of the bird is determined by its relationship with the soul, so we can go further and say that the human soul = bird, then the alter ego of the king of men is the king of birds. That is why the turul becomes the totem animal of the ruling family, since it is above all important that the house of the Árpáds does not disappear, and that is why the turul impregnates Emese so that she can give birth to the hero of the age. This is why the legend is the story that the people believe to be true about its origin. . Thus forming heroes and wonderful events. The goal is not primarily to entertain, but to teach about moral decency, humanity, origins, and ancestors through hidden spiritual and moral qualities. The story does not lie, but it often dresses up the twisting form of the narrative in wonderful elements.
