Roberto Saviano - Gomorra (2020)

Perhaps no one has ever written such an astonishingly revealing book about organized crime as Roberto Saviano, this young Italian man who at first was just curious about how the port of Naples works, where a gigantic amount of goods pass through every day - much of it illegally.
So he refused to work for a Chinese businessman, and then slowly became passionate about learning everything about the System that controls the region's economy. Because that's the only way its members call the Camorra, this deadly mafia organization whose tentacles extend far beyond the region and even Italy. Saviano visits crime scenes one after the other, sees mobsters killed during clan wars as well as innocent people killed in cold blood or with horrible cruelty, who were just standing in the way of the System. He wants to know everything, he wants to understand everything - above all, whether it is possible to effectively confront this organization, which has destroyed his narrower homeland, Naples and its surroundings, where the laws are made by the mafia, and where power, money and blood are the holy trinity of life.
He himself - with Gomorrah and his other books - has already done everything that a man can do.
