Kovacs' implacable campaign of revenge for his lost love comes to a screeching halt when the ghosts of Harlan's World and his own violent past emerge to drag him into a maelstrom of political intrigue and technological mystery. Quellcrist Falconer is said to have returned from the dead, and the First Families are mobilizing a young, ruthless Emissary to hunt him down. The Envoy is called Kovacs, and he's been waiting in storage for two hundred years, refusing to share his newly reclaimed existence with his older, criminal-turned-burnt-out self.
