"Wardes stood unsuspectingly on the bank of the river, as the Flesh Wolf stepped forward from the bushes unarmed and raised his hat. But he did not say "good day", but took a revolver out of his hat and shot the peace officer in the head with it. All of this happened so quickly and unexpectedly that even the Denver Hound's infamous skill could not prevent the fatal shot. "Hey, Fernandez," screamed the bandit leader, who was called the Flesh Wolf because of his wide face and thick lips. A startled mestizo stepped out of the bushes and looked hesitantly at the dead man and at his owner, then he stammered: - This... is dead, sir. - Did you think he would sing after I shot him in the head? Carry it behind the bushes, you bastard! When Wardes' body was behind the bushes, Flesh Wolf ordered Fernandez: "Call the boys!" But don't talk about what happened. - Oh, Wolf... It wasn't a real fight... - So?! Do you want to talk?” Fernandez is silent and Fernandez cannot see. The Wolf is his master - he answered trembling, because the huge robber's eyes flashed and he reached for the revolver... - Just say one more thing: was this the famous peace officer who was sent here from the East? - You guessed it! This is the Denver Hound! Wardes, who is more famous in the States than Buffalo Bill once was! He destroyed the robbers in Wyoming. No one escaped from him whom he pursued. It's here now! "And he kicked my body." - Come on!"
