Rejtő Jenő - Ezen egy night

"Luck plays a particularly large role in the novel. Luck will come. You insult a young man with your most sudden hook. The person faints. He doesn't know he's being insulted. He thinks it's luck as he smiles. Fortune smiles when you caress. If he hits, he is angry, like an old, grumpy wild spouse. In such cases, it later turns into bad luck. The young man, the hero of this novel, changes in the clutches of fortune, richer with many lessons, a great transformation, and poorer with several huge disappointments. So the proverb is true: Everyone is forged by his own luck! And now the introduction: The setting of the novel is the fantasy of a cabaret writer. The object, game, material of fantasy: the cabaret itself. When fantasy and life meet, the face of reality is especially distorted. A caricature is born from their marriage. I apologize in advance: I did not write a key novel. I carefully avoided writing an existing cabaret. The voice, humor, and private life of the cabaret is what I wanted to give the illusion of reality in my novel. I would like to avoid possible misunderstandings by the reader regarding the persons, so I state most definitely that I did not model the characters in the novel from reality. If, while reading, someone still thinks that they recognize me as a person living in one or another fictional character, I have to say that this can only be a mistake, because at most I consider it talented that someone dares to compare himself to the fictional character I invented, for which of course I cannot take responsibility.
