Product description
The writings in the volume are at the service of the idea of the Hungarian cultural nation. That is why their author deals with scribes, whether they once lived in today's Hungary, Transylvania, the Uplands, Subcarpathia, the South or even in the Western world (in emigration), who themselves wrote and created in the consciousness of national literature and the unity of the cultural nation. With a few exceptions (László Dobos, Gyula Borbándi), this book is a collection of writings about writers and poets who were already present in Hungarian literary life in the first half of the twentieth century: from the older past Endre Ady, Mihály Babits, Dezső Kosztolányi and Miklós Bánffy, the more closely Gyula Illyés, László Németh, Péter Veres, Sándor Reményik from Transylvania, Károly Kós, Aladár Kuncz, Sándor Makkai, Benő Karácsony, Jenő Dsida and Zoltán Jékely, Imre Kovács and Albert Wass active in the western world. They all had a common conviction, and the author's as well, that there is only one Hungarian literature without borders, and that what history has roughly shattered must be restored by the creative spirit in the world of literature.
