Paul Auster - Tricky game

Someone wants to kill George Chapman, the former baseball star who was forced to leave the world of sports due to a serious car accident and is now flirting with a career in politics. Chapman hires hard-nosed private detective Max Klein to find out who is behind the threat. Although Chapman claims he has no enemies, Klein has long been a believer in fairy tales. He begins to investigate and soon realizes that almost everyone who was connected to the man had a reason for the murder and that although there are ruthless businessmen and cruel mobsters among the potential opponents, the most dangerous of all is perhaps the man's beautiful wife.
