Paul Auster - Mr. Vertigo

Paul Auster has been waiting for the Nobel Prize for many years, the owner of countless literary awards, and his books have been translated into thirty languages. His works are now published in the new oeuvre series of 21. Szazad Kiadó.

Mr. Vertigo is a dizzying picaresque novel set in the 1920s. The orphaned main character, Walt, is a true child prodigy who gains national fame. His master, Yehudi, runs a circus in Kansas. The mysterious, Hungarian-Jewish eccentric rescued the boy from the streets of St. Louis in order to teach him to walk on air.

During their journey, life brings them together with more and more colorful figures - thieves, criminals and members of the Klu-Klux Clan - and then members of the Chicago mafia also appear. Walt's rising fame is a reflection of the country's development history and a symbol of the destiny of all America.

"A simple story whose charm is irresistible. It is nothing less than the history of a great country.” - The Washington Post
