A married couple living on a farm in southern Italy is raising their own teenage son as well as institutional children. The boys cultivate the land, work, study, pray and get to know their bodies. One of them, Bern, likes Teresa, a girl from Turin who is vacationing in the neighboring villa, at first sight. After a few years, their relationship becomes serious, Teresa - having stopped her university studies - moves to the farm to join the company living there in spartan conditions.
