Ottessa Moshfegh - Eileen voltam

The approaching Christmas does not hold much joy for 24-year-old Eileen Dunlop, who is unable to break free from the trap of her alcoholic father and her secretarial duties in a juvenile prison. Overwhelmed by her injuries, lack of self-esteem, and unhappiness, the prison guard tries to keep herself afloat by fantasizing about dirty Randy, while daydreaming about one day escaping her bleak, loveless life. Then the shining, perfect Rebecca arrives, who looks at the hitherto invisible Eileen, notices her, and befriends her. The girl herself does not understand, she is fascinated by the beautiful woman and the sudden friendship. We get to know a few days in Eileen's life until, with a Hitchcockian twist, she gets involved in a criminal case that surpasses all her imagination.
