INTERESTING THINGS ABOUT VITAMIN B12
Compounds with B12 activity are collectively called cobalamins, due to their cobalt content.

The two metabolically active and best utilized forms of vitamin B12 are methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin (also known as 5'-deoxyadenosylcobalamin).
Two other forms of vitamin B12 are inactive hydroxycobalamin and cyanocobalamin. These forms will only be biologically active in the body after a multi-step transformation, so their bioavailability is low.
It is important to know that the two active forms perform completely different functions in the body. Methylcobalamin is active in the cell plasma, adenosylcobalamin in the mitochondria.
For best results, methylcobalamin should be combined with adenosylcobalamin. Cells also need adenosylcobalamin and methylcobalamin, which can be easily converted into each other.
OUR PRODUCT CONTAINS ONLY NATURALLY OCCURRING, BIOACTIVE METHYLCOBALAMIN AND ADENOSYLCOBALAMIN (VITAMIN B12 MATRIX).
METHYLCOBALAMIN - B12 FOR DNA AND NERVES
Methylcobalamin is one of the two active forms of vitamin B12. It reduces homocysteine levels and produces the most important methyl donor, SAMe (S-adenosylmethionine), which is key to chemical reactions.

It is mostly used in the liver, brain and nervous system. It has a pronounced neuroprotective effect, helps the regeneration of nerves and restores the reduced neurotransmitters to their normal levels.

ADENOSYLCOBALAMIN - B12 FOR ENERGY
Adenosylcobalamin is vitamin B12 produced by fermentation of the bacterium Ensifer adhaerens and is the active form of B12 found in mitochondria.

Its role is to support and protect the mitochondria in cells (methylcobalamin cannot do this), and it is a key component of the myelin sheath, which protects nerve cells in the body and brain and enables them to respond quickly to stimuli.

VITAMIN B12 IN FOODS
Vitamin B12 is mainly found in foods of animal origin, but some species of algae, yeast and fungi are exceptions. It is important to emphasize that plant sources mostly contain pseudo-vitamin B12, which is inactive and cannot be used properly by the human body.

With the spread of the vegan lifestyle, more and more plant-based foods are enriched with vitamin B12, for example breakfast cereals or plant-based milks. These foods mostly contain the less well-absorbed form of cyanocobalamin, so it may be worth using a dietary supplement with high bioavailability in the case of a vegan lifestyle.
WHAT IS THE EFFECT OF LOWER B12 LEVELS?
Lack of vitamin B12 is considered a problem especially for people living a vegan lifestyle, but studies have shown that people living in the Western world have approx. 40% have low or near-limit levels of vitamin B12.

Modern intensive farming has led to a lack of cobalt in the soil, which is essential for the production of B12.
The absorption of vitamin B12 requires the protein produced in the stomach, this is the intrinsic factor. The intrinsic factor is not produced if the stomach acid level is not optimal and if the stomach mucosa is severely damaged (e.g. chronic gastritis, surgery to remove part or all of the stomach), or if we live with an autoimmune disease that affects the intrinsic factor in the stomach attacks factor-producing cells.
Since vitamin B12 is absorbed in the last section of the small intestine, the removal of this section of the intestine or diseases of the small intestine (SIBO, inflammation) also lead to a lack of the vitamin.
Long-term stress and trauma are also associated with a decrease in vitamin B12. On the one hand, because the level of stomach acid changes, on the other hand, the adrenal glands produce adrenaline in this case, which serves to give the person a short-term boost of energy. Vitamin B12 is essential for the production of adrenaline,
