Product description
Who was this hidden genius, who composed his entire oeuvre in a maze of pseudonyms, in a polemical and yet unified structure that begins dialogues with each other and ends in contradictions, which reveals much more about the world and the dilemmas of the person thrown into it than the wisest monologue could? Can Kierkegaard's many works, diaries, notes and religious writings be read as some kind of monumental drama, whose many characters represent their own truth and reach some kind of conclusion that can be shaped together? What did the theater mean as a model of this process, which for Kierkegaard - as well as for the era - was of decisive importance, as a rudimentary "mass medium", a scene of shocks, a social space, an opportunity for education, catharsis and observation? Given all of this, is it a coincidence that Kierkegaard's ideas first reached a wider audience through drama and theater, and his history of influence includes at least as many types of drama as his oeuvre? The volume also seeks answers to these questions.
ANDRÁS NAGY (1956), writer, essayist, associate professor at Pannon University and researcher at the Institute of Advanced Studies in Kőszeg, has been dealing with Kierkegaard's works, personality, world and influence for decades. He was once the organizer of the Kierkegaard festival in Budapest, later he created a research facility called the Kierkegaard Cabinet, while he was constantly occupied with the many secrets of the Danish philosopher's writings and life, which he attempted to understand in several studies and volumes. This volume contains the results of recent research.
