Nadler Herbert - Vadásznapló 1935-1936
Product description
Herbert Nadler is primarily known as a hunting writer and hunting authority, but he also managed the Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden with great competence for almost twenty years. In the paper he edited called Nature, in addition to publications promoting the zoo and the natural science results of the time, the paper also reported on, for example, zoological and botanical curiosities or hunting exhibitions, in which Nadler himself published many independent articles.
The source of his articles and writings published in book form are largely his hunting diaries, which he kept for about thirty years with the care and thoroughness so characteristic of him according to his contemporaries. The material of our volume is made up of diaries documenting the years 1935 and 1936, previously published in the Forestry History Notices edited by Sándor Oroszi, in which Nadler lists with exacting precision the animals killed during his hunts and the costs incurred. In addition to the eventful days, on which "all the conditions for success are present", the unsuccessful days were also recorded, with which the author "owes to the devil", and from which a lot of experience can be gained, if appropriate.
These diary entries, originally written partly in Hungarian and partly in German, are not only important hunting historical documents, but also accurate indicators of Nadler's strong character, great knowledge, pure love of nature and unwavering hunting ethics.
