Meg Rosoff - Just in Case - Sorsbújócska (2021)

Meg Rosoff (1956) is an American writer born in Boston, but in 1989 she permanently moved to London. After fifteen years spent in the advertising industry, his first novel, Majd pår lesz nyár, is published, which immediately became a worldwide success. His second novel, Just In Case - Sorsbújócska depicts teenage anxiety without sentimentality and with humor.

How can Fate strike us? How can we figure it out? Let's say that we always think of all eventualities at the same time, and then it has no hold on us and leaves us alone? Who knows... just to be safe, it might be worth a try! This is how Justin, who used to be called David, reasons after he gets it into his head that Fate has got it into his head to finish him off. First, he changes his name and style, then he adopts an imaginary dog, with which he sets out to escape from his Fate...

The author's brutal honesty makes the figure of Justin Case ("just in case") unforgettable, whom critics often compare to the hero of Salinger's Ryzs. The novel won many awards, including the Jugendliteraturpreis, the most prestigious youth award in the German market. In 2016, Meg Rosoff received the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Prize, the world's most significant literary award for children and youth.
