This matcha is a finely ground powder made from the leaves of Japanese green tea (Camellia sinensis), made from 100% organic matcha. The word matcha means "ground tea" in Japanese, and the traditional preparation method also comes from Japan. The powder is rich in antioxidants and provides natural caffeine, whose energising effect lasts throughout the day.
To make a classic matcha tea, add one gram of powder to a cup, pour over about 70 ml of water at around 80 °C and whisk vigorously with a bamboo whisk (chasen) or a small hand whisk until all lumps dissolve and a frothy, creamy layer forms on top. The powder is also suitable for a creamy matcha latte or a refreshing matcha lemonade.
