Product description
This MAGUS phase contrast objective offers 40x magnification and a numerical aperture of 0.60, designed for studying living, unstained biological specimens. Because staining would kill microorganisms, phase contrast is the only method that allows such samples to be examined in their natural state. Operation also requires a phase condenser with a 40x annular diaphragm or a matching phase annulus disc.

The objective is corrected for infinity-based optical systems and can be fitted to biological or fluorescence inverted microscopes. With a working distance of 3.5 mm and a parfocal distance of 45 mm, it suits samples held in laboratory vessels with a 1.2 mm bottom thickness. The plan-achromatic correction provides a large, largely flat field of view, which works particularly well with a digital camera or 22 mm eyepieces.

It is compatible with eyepieces ranging from 7.5x to 15x, giving a useful total magnification between 300x and 600x. The black objective has a copper body and is compatible with several MAGUS Bio and Lum inverted microscope models.
