Madarassy László - Művészkedő Hungarian pásztorok

Product description
Hungarian pastoral art is one branch of the sprawling tree of Hungarian folk art. We usually classify under its term all objects that goulash, csíkós, juhász, canász, i.e. the beginning of Hungarian pastoralism, mainly make for their own use from wood, bone, ox, ram horn, gourd fruit and animal skin, i.e. from the raw materials most at hand so that the object serves a practical purpose and provides spiritual pleasure. The Hungarian shepherd mainly makes objects for his own use, which are his main aids while fulfilling his vocation. These are: the stick (jerkó, binkó, furkó), the whip (káríkás, whip), the hook (gamó, kámó), the ax (balaska, axe). He drives with the stick, leads with the whip, catches with the hook, and strikes down with the ax. The stick, the whip, and the ax are the privileged tools of gouly, csíkós, and kanas alike - you could say: their coat of arms.
