Product description
When the book reader, the movie watcher, the exhibition visitor hears the term "national park", they think of a largely untouched primeval forest, a remote mountain region, a desolate wasteland, a picturesque valley, or perhaps an inaccessible coral reef. Fairy-tale images of animals living idle in paradise, rampant plants, colorful zigzagging coral reef fish and birds of prey with extended wings flash before him. Most people believe that the national park was created to protect a piece of our Earth, in its pristine, natural beauty, from man's nature-conquering and environmentally destructive activities. However, the reality is that there are already more than 7.5 billion people living on our planet, and there is hardly an area the size of a foot that is not affected or changed in some way by the presence of people. This book tries to show, with the special natural images of Hungary's 10 national parks and the human characters living in them, that for centuries the man who has lived in the landscape can become an integral part of the environment, does not exploit or destroy it, but lives with it and with its continuous adaptation, it can even make the development of civilization tolerable and adaptable. We can see the goulash accompanying the gray cattle goulash, the woodcutter walking through the forest, the birder saving the grouse eggs and the nature photographer building the ambush site; they all have in common that they do not want to subjugate or conquer nature, but to live with it, get to know it, accept it and follow its laws. Attila Lóránt has spent years getting to know these Hungarian landscapes and the people who live in them, and with his always ready camera he brings them close to the Reader who wants to enjoy the images and impressions.
