Product description
The focus of the book is on the lesser-known first half of the 1960s, with the X-ray doctor and composer dr. With the figure of László Végh, who played an important role in Budapest's underground culture. As early as 1958, Dr. Végh conducted concrete and electronic musical experiments, which he shared mainly in the private spaces of unofficial culture with young artists who were later classified as neo-avant-garde. For the first time, the actualities of contemporary avant-garde music, the works of John Cage, Karlheinz Stockhausen, György Ligeti, Luigi Nono, Pierre Boulez and others could be heard at his musical presentations. In addition to the positive interpretation of his role, the book dr. László Végh's cooperation with the secret services is also not avoided. The main purpose of the volume is to offer a new art historical genealogy for the interpretation of the neo-avant-garde positions emerging in the mid-sixties, and to present the process by which contemporary music inspired and with the background of poetry, the first happenings and actions appeared in Hungary. Organized and conducted by Gábor Altorjay and Tamás Szentjóby, the first happening in 1966 was realized as a critique of modernist art, adapted to contemporary American art, and transformed the traditional concept of art.
