A collection of Székely folk poetry by János Kriza and his colleagues was published in 1863 under the title Vadrózsák. Folk songs and ballads, children's games, nursery rhymes, riddles, sayings and proverbs, dance words, as well as folk tales from Trámszék and Udvarhelyszék can be read in it. Udvarhelyszék is located in the western part of Székelyföld, one of the former Székely seats, an independent landscape unit. Eight folk tales from Udvarhelyszék were published in Vadrózsák. This volume offers a selection of fairy tales collected in the 19th century, a revised version for children of the texts reflecting the Udvarhelyszék dialect of the time.
