Komshine KPV-53 optical power meter and fault locator

The Komshine KPV-53 is a combined optical power meter (OPM) and visual fault locator (VFL). It measures the attenuation of an optical link directly and helps visually identify faults along the fibre. It is suitable for all FTTx applications.

The optical power meter displays readings in dBm, dB and µW and covers the wavelengths 850, 980, 1300, 1310, 1490, 1550 and 1625 nm. Measurement accuracy is ±0.02 dB, with a measuring range of +10 to -70 dBm. The visual fault locator operates at 650 nm in both CW and modulated modes and can detect faults on optical cable up to 10 km long.

The unit runs on three 1.5 V AA alkaline batteries, with a typical runtime of 50 hours. It has a backlit LCD display and an operating temperature range of -20 to 75 °C. The connector adapter is compatible with SC, FC and ST types. The device weighs 280 g.
