Kökényesi Zsolt - Nemesi oktatás and elitképzés a kora újkori Hungarian Királyságban

From the 16th century, the European nobility faced many new political and cultural changes - including the Reformation and the strengthening of the monarch's power - to which, if they wanted to adapt effectively, they had to have an increasingly extensive theoretical and practical education. The noble society's need for education increased significantly in the early modern centuries. It was no different in the Kingdom of Hungary, where the elite and emerging nobles - despite the Ottoman wars - quickly realized how important formal education and education could be in raising or preserving the social position of a family. The purpose of the study volume is to provide an overview of the most important educational opportunities available to the Catholic elite and aristocratic families. The authors of the volume publish the results of their new basic archival research, through which we can gain insight into the functioning of educational institutions in Hungary and abroad on the one hand, and into the educational strategies of noble families on the other.
