Product description
Even by the standards of world literature, Bánk Bán is the outstanding peak of our not very rich dramatic literature. The historical drama raises many questions and problems: from national concerns to personal life. It is no coincidence that it was successfully staged, so since 1848 every era has found in it the most relevant to the present. It seems that, from the distance of a century and a half, the main question of this immortal masterpiece is a moral one: does the person sworn to the law have the right to break the law? Moreover, in such a way that breaking the law also means taking a human life! The typical Hungarian historical situation in the 13th century raises a question of universal validity: the moral connection between the circumstances and the deed.
