The series of autobiographical novels by Karl Ove Knausgård ends with the volume The Fights. The volume is the confession of a man involved in a creative and conscience crisis, a fitting conclusion to one of the most exciting writing attempts in 21st century world literature.

The author lives in Malmö with his second wife, Linda, and their three children. Before the publication of the first Harcom novel, Death, he sends the manuscript to some of his acquaintances in the book, before the family scandal breaks out. His uncle threatens him with a lawsuit and to prevent the publication of the volume, causing Knausgård to begin to doubt whether he has authentically portrayed his childhood and the circumstances of his father's death. While he is completely overcome by guilt and despair, he cannot neglect his fatherly duties.

Between sections on his own and his family's life, Knausgård intersperses a long essay on the nature of anti-Semitism, Paul Celan's poem The Narrow Path, the story of Cain and Abel, Turner, Leonardo da Vinci, the language of the Third Reich, Mein Kampf, and how Adolf Hitler came to be. from an iron-fisted father to the head of Germany.

With the novel Harcok, the autobiographical series, considered scandalous by many and brutally honest by others, is completed in Hungarian. In his first play, Death, Knausgård writes about his own childhood and the life of his father through his death. He settles accounts with him and accounts with himself, discussing in detail the conflicts between the frail father and the prodigal son. In the second volume, Szerelem, the divorced writer moves to Stockholm and is forced to both continue and start over with his life. Here he meets his second wife, the mother of his future children. In the third part of his monumental biographical series, The Game, the adult author does not look back on his younger self, but the little child tells how he stumbled through the painful, unforgettable and unavoidable stages of childhood and adolescence. The fourth part of the Harcom series, Élét close-up, is about the desires and sufferings, shame, humiliation and uncontrollable emotions of adolescence. In Dreams, the fifth volume of the series, young adult Karl Ove moves to Bergen to attend the local writing academy and focus entirely on writing. In the novel, we can follow Knausgård's loves, anxieties, broken and fulfilled dreams from the age of nineteen to his early thirties.

The first two volumes of the series, Death and Love, were published in the translation of Edit Petrikovics. Bence Patat, the translator of the other four volumes, recommends Harkok to those "who are interested in how the author experienced the scandal and family conflicts after the publication of the first volumes, but also to those who will pick it up because of Knausgård's interpretation of Paul Celan's poem The Narrow Passage the book".

The Harcom series does not require a chronological order, the reader can get involved in any volume, he can decide for himself from which door to enter the world of biographical text with thousands of pages.
