Káli István - Klastrom street two

From America, Tomi returns to Marosvásárhely, the former town of his grandparents, in the early 1990s, in order to investigate the unsolved robberies that took place there, which affected both Jews and Hungarians, for his university research. about three significant eras of the 20th century from a micro-view: the Nazi and socialist dictatorships, as well as the regime change. He does not equate the two oppressive systems, approaches the topic openly, but primarily from a personal, human perspective, and describes different forms of vulnerability. Klastrom utca is also a novel of two generations, in which the younger generation attempts to learn about the life world and life history of the older generation, and the outcome of this experiment also provides an accurate description of the current age. We, the readers, are a little bit like Tom: from the comfort and changed world of the present, it is difficult for us to understand and feel the sufferings of past ages. We are often indifferent to the trials of others - by reading the novel, however, we can try to empathize with the difficulties of our ancestors and fellow human beings, as well as learn about the traumas of the past.
