You must understand before it's too late!

In the summer of 1728, mysterious figures appeared in Szeged. As a result of their whispering, the relentless drought and famine that afflicted the city was linked to the witches hiding there. Hatred began to spread like wildfire. At the end of the witch hunt, thirteen residents of Szeged who were believed to be witches were sent to the bonfires set up in the floodplain of the Tisza.

In the spring of 2018, four good friends from high school disappear without a trace from a college in Szeged. The police investigation gets off to a rocky start as they are treated as ringleaders.

Janka Angyal, the sister of one of the missing boys, cannot accept the fact that days pass without results, so with the help of her friend, Léna Szépvölgyi, she goes in search of her brother herself. Janka has been struggling with epilepsy since childhood, moreover, during her major seizures, she foresees tragic events, and more recently, black ravens, a creepy skeleton, and a strange woman, whose whole body is covered with a black shroud, appear more and more often in her dreams.

A few days later, the brutally mutilated body of one of the missing boys is found in a floodplain forest called Witch Island. From then on, it becomes clear to the police and the two girls that they have to run a race against time, because the other three boys are somewhere in the captivity of a merciless killer, awaiting their doom.

John Cure is the most widely read horror and mystery thriller writer in our country. In the reissue of his exciting novel, in addition to the events taking place today, he authentically revives the witch hunt that claimed the most victims in the history of Hungary at the beginning of the 18th century.
