Weyer's source material was a manuscript known as Liber officiorum spirituum, seu Liber dictus Empto salomonis, de principibus et regibus daemoniorum. The present text is based on the English translation found in Reginald Scot's 1583 work, The Discoverie of Witchcraft. It differs from Weyer's original in the omission of a demon named Pruflas, a deficiency that can also be found in this edition, which is faithful to Scot's originally published version.
