A characteristic feature of our Székely land, which is so rich in its natural treasures, originalities and special features and constitutes a real national treasure, is that its inhabitants have been able to preserve the old national characteristics in language, customs and industrial aspects, in spite of their excellent educative character, much more against the equalizing and unifying force of civilization, like any region of our country. Linguists as well as historians, archaeologists as well as artists and artisans will find here an inexhaustible treasure house of our old and still existing national characteristics and monuments. Local sayings, legends, folk customs, place names, a poor village church and an old nobleman's chest drawer: they are all living witnesses of the past and data for the history of our nation and our race. Even though the rapidly advancing civilization has reached even the most hidden corner, it is already beginning to erase many characteristic features to the great detriment of our national culture, which, however, can still be saved from extinction and eternal oblivion with little work and fatigue. Such an insignificant and slowly being forgotten national treasure is also the Hungarian decorative manner based on specific old traditions, which puritan simplicity and love of the foreigner have almost completely killed, but what is certain is that it has been completely pushed out of practice.
