Hermann Ildi - Hiányzó stories - New York-i Hungarian zsidók történetei

"Shocking, heart-wrenching, thought-provoking - we can apply many adjectives to the stories documented by the photographer Hermann Ildikó, but perhaps the most appropriate feature of all of them is that they are TRUE. They are true both in a historical and human sense. In the photo-illustrated book, 14 Holocaust survivors who came from Hungary to New York we can read his memories, his past and his present. Through their tears or their wry humor, their disappointment or their affirmation of life, the past comes to life cleanly and dustily and the private history is interwoven with the events of the world, which are also mediated by people: for example, by how a neighbor behaved in a fateful situation , a soldier, an old servant, a friend or a janitor.14 Fates: 14 missing stories of ordinary people, 14 stories of survival.

The volume is also published in English.

The volume is based on the ten-part series of articles published on INDEX. In addition to the expanded, edited version of these, the book also includes four brand new stories, illustrated with artistic shots."
