Gergely Ágnes - A szomjúság ára
2 745 Ft
Product description
"I wrote two novels about people without guardian angels. The Interpreter in 1973 and The Unguarded in 2000. Both are stories of love; both stories begin at the water's edge, one on the Bulgarian coast, the other in the Finnish lake region.
The Hungarian-born Swedish professor Georg Klein, who died recently, told a friend of mine that Unguarded was a cruel book. The Berliner Zeitung critic wrote: whoever reads it will change their life. If only he were right." (Ágnes Gergely)
Ágnes Gergely was born in 1933 in Endrőd. Poet, prose writer, essayist, literary translator. The four novels and the poetic oeuvre are arranged as a unit, the volumes of poems and the novels are projected onto each other to give an authentic picture of Ágnes Gergely's writing world. This is complemented by the writer's memoirs of an essayistic nature, of a unique genre: a report diary, an essay diary and a portfolio diary. A prominent area of his activity is literary translation. He mostly translates poems, but also plays, novels, and short stories. Primarily a mediator of British, American and African literature. He is a participant in the effort to bring modern English-language literature to Hungarian readers in a more complete and fresh manner.
